Fravel check in: A tale of boats and clicks

As we drove alongside the most famous wetland of Assam, Deepor Beel, nature greeted us with its traditional welcome of light showers. This was the tee-off shoot for our photo trip and our excitement level was soaring higher than the clouds overhead.

To add to it was the novelty of this experience for each of us; while my friends were new to fashion blog photography, I was new to being shot by professionals. We were eager to catch the morning rays, before the crowds came in. Paying no heed to the imminent rains, we stepped out with all the fancy photography equipment. It was such a pleasure to work with people whose ideas and commitment to shoot resonated with mine. Water, boats, soft light and fashion; the elements came together beautifully on this day. I think it reflects in the pictures….

More about the Deepor Beel: Located in the outskirts of Guwahati City, this compact wildlife sanctuary is of immense historical and ecological significance in Assam. Not only is it home to a couple of hundreds of species of birds, around 70 different species of migratory birds are known to visit every year. The place is spectacular during the winters, when as many as 19000 water-birds may been spotted on a single day. Apart from that, the beel supports tens of indigenous villages in its periphery. If you are travelling to North East India between October-March, you will likely spend one or two days in Guwahati; be sure to hire a cab and visit this place.
